I am an interactive designer with a focus on website development and user experience. During my five-month co-op with IBM, I developed my interests in both user experience and interaction development. Most recently I was with UBS Financial Services, this past summer working on their intranet site.

Currently I am a senior at the Rochester Institute of Technology. When I was looking at colleges I wanted to be in a program that combined my two favorite subjects, art and computers. The New Media program at RIT is unique in that there are many different tracks a student can take to focus on either programming or design. The freedom to explore various areas has been an amazing benefit for me during my time at RIT.

Right now I am working on my senior project for my major, so I will be updating our team blog frequently, reporting on our progress. Our project will be as amazing as the ones produced by last years class. For my New Media Team Project we have decided to make an interactive coffee table. We have decided on Boiler House as the name for our coffee house and have begun working on our main UI as well as our coffee ordering application.

Jon Gerlach is one of the designers on my team and he created these wonderful 3D objects for us. As you can see, the table top is made up of many different pieces of wood in order to support the weight of the pieces of acryllic. The first image shows the thick piece of plywood with a hole cut out of it that supports the two pieces of acryllic and the LEDs. The second image shows the slim pieces of wood that we are using to brace the sides of the acryllic to prevent it from moving as well as giving more support to the table top. The third image shows the slim piece of wood that covers the entire table top added to the table.
